Ecospirituality Summer School January 19, 20 and 21 - 2019 .
We had a wonderful weekend of fellowship, connecting and learning about Ecospirituality. The photo above is from a workshop we did in stages over the weekend inspired by the work of John Seed and Joanna Macy, where we gave voice to the creatures with a message to the humans. Over the next few weeks I will post a series of blogs summarizing some of the things we covered at the Summer School.
We are living in interesting times, a time of transition. The age of intellectual development, which began in the first third of the fifteenth century is coming to an end and a new age of spiritual awareness is dawning. The intellectual age saw the development of reason through scientific investigation and the rise of technology. It is time now to add to our scientific understanding of the world a new awareness of spiritual reality. A new stream of spirituality is ready to pour into human consciousness. There are three significant hallmarks of the new spirituality; an expanded awareness of the presence of Christ, a reawakening to the divine feminine and a renewed consciousness and perception of the spiritual within all of nature, all of creation. This third aspect I call Ecospirituality.
Ecospirituality in a nutshell.
Standing in awe of creation is the foundation of Ecospirituality.
What is creation? Creation is all things including us. It is us in relationship with all things. “All our relations,” the Lakota pray whenever they smoke the sacred pipe or enter or leave a sweatlodge. “All our relations” implies all beings, all things, the ones we see and the ones we do not; the far off galaxies and the myriad stars, the supernovas and the microorganisms, the trees and the rocks, the fish and the whales, the dingoes and the birds, the flowers and the insects, the underground lake, and the majestic mountains, the children we give birth to and the generations to come. The politician and the drug addict, the homeless person and the property developer, the frog in the swamp and the snake in the grass, the intense blue sky of a bright sunny day and the utter darkness of a desert at night, the whirr of a cicada and the drone of a didgeridoo, the humble bark shelter and the magnificence of Chartres Cathedral, the excitement of an inner city and the despair of Dondale Detention Centre.
Creation is all space, all time – all things past, present and future, with an emphasis on the present which is the “Eternal Now”. By the choices we make now about what we birth, the past presses into the future. Whether the future presents itself as still more beauty or still more devastation depends upon our choices as we respond to our role as co-creators in an ever-unfolding creation. It is the past and present come together to birth a future.
Stand in awe of creation. Awe will stimulate your reverence for the heavens and the earth. Your reverence will arouse your love for our beautiful world. Your love will activate your clairvoyance.
There are levels of clairvoyance. We have ‘everyday clairvoyant experiences’ but may not be conscious of them. We can awaken to the world of spirit all around us, and permeating us, through our intuition, true inspiration and conscious imagination.
